{"id":338,"date":"2018-09-26T16:15:26","date_gmt":"2018-09-26T14:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dempseys.co.za\/gh\/about-that-large-deck-chair\/"},"modified":"2018-09-26T16:15:26","modified_gmt":"2018-09-26T14:15:26","slug":"about-that-large-deck-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dempseys.co.za\/gh\/about-that-large-deck-chair\/","title":{"rendered":"About that large deck chair&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Awhile back, the <a title=\"Mandela Bay Development Agency\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mbda.co.za\">Mandela Bay Development Agency<\/a> installed a new art piece at <a title=\"King's Beach Port Elizabeth South Africa\" href=\"http:\/\/www.southafrica.net\/za\/en\/articles\/entry\/article-southafrica.net-kings-beach-port-elizabeth\">King&#8217;s Beach<\/a>, Port Elizabeth,\u00a0as an extension of the famous <a title=\"Dempsey's coverage of Route 67\" href=\"https:\/\/dempseys.co.za\/gh\/images-of-the-interesting-route-67-art-works-in-pe-dec-2012\/\">Route 67<\/a>. The artwork titled \u201cThe Photo Opportunity\u201d by artist Mary Duker,\u00a0 reminds viewers of seaside visits of their childhood with big canvas chairs.  Dorelle Sapere, MBDA Planning and Development Manager,\u00a0says: \u201cThe commission was awarded as a result of a public art competition calling for site specific proposals for artworks to form an integral part of the MBDA\u2019s King\u2019s Beach upgrade project. The Photo Opportunity work forms the first part of a two part installation at Kings Beach\u201d.
