Dempsey’s Guest House is a formally-licenced accommodation establishment entering it’s 20th year of business in 2026 and is working on remaining constant with service and reliability for many more years.

Important note: our metro has endured a gripping drought for almost 10 years. As at 9th May 2026, the drought has been broken by floods, our supply dams are overflowing! Hallelujah! We anxiously await word from the metro on the removal of  water restrictions. Until then we are still being water-smart and ask our guests to please comply with the water-saving measures in place at Dempsey’s. We’ve experienced minimal damage at Dempsey’s, we are grateful.

Dempsey’s Guest House

We aim to provide a peaceful and comfortable stay for all travellers. The large garden and abundant bird life adds to the tranquillity of our property and suburb. We love this place. We love being home and close to nature. We are environmentally aware, our garden is completely natural, we don’t apply fertilizers or pesticides of any kind. We recycle paper, tin, glass and plastics, we harvest rain water for our laundry, we have attached water saving shower roses to all of the showers, we use energy-saving light bulbs as much as possible. We conserve energy by using a heat pump to heat all water on the property with a solar inverter back up system for power supply which serves us during most load-shedding times; uncapped Wi-Fi availability remains consistent throughout. We conserve water and adhere to the current municipal water restrictions.
We are centrally-located here in the suburb of Walmer, not far from Chief Dawid Stuurman Airport and very close to a selection of interesting shops, restaurants, bakeries and pubs. We are 7kms from the nearest beach; we are also very close to major shopping centres.

Owner-managers live on site.

Choose from five spacious and comfortably laid out rooms, each with private entrances, en suite bathrooms and kitchenettes. The rooms are not inter-leading, all are private and separate from each other.

Our Family Room No.2 is wheelchair friendly. An accessible ramp leads from the car park to the spacious room; the bathroom has a ‘roll-in shower’ with correct grab rails and fixtures. Photographs and detailed dimensions of this room can be found under the “Wheelchair Friendly” tab.
