The Care Haven Psychiatric Centre in Port Elizabeth, provides full residential care to 60 persons with psychiatric illnesses. They recently ran a market to raise funds, see below some photos of the unique goods that were for sale. Care Haven was established on 1 August 1986 in collaboration with Elizabeth Donkin Psychiatric Hospital. Mother Teresa, Nobel Peace Prize winner, officially opened the first Care Haven in 1989, during her only visit to Port Elizabeth and South Africa. Services: • Full nursing and medication. • Occupational therapy and skills development in a protective workshop environment. • Social and psychological assessments. • Group and family therapy. • All meals and laundry included. • Day patient facilities. • Recreational activities and gym fitness training. • All transport provided for appointments.
