Visit The Tinker Bean, not far from us in Walmer, for quality coffee and scrumptious eats in a relaxed, child-friendly atmosphere. Arjenique realised her dream and opened The Tinker Bean in March 2014, adding to a string of interesting businesses along Main Road, Walmer, Port Elizabeth. The Tinker Bean offers a lovely spread of light meals, decent sized portions at decent prices with their Dutch chicken croquettes, homemade burger patties and Dutch apple pie fast becoming favourites. Arjenique tinkers in the kitchen and makes delicious Dutch butter cookies as well as her range of basil dressings and chocolate covered coffee beans. When we popped in she’d just finished making some fudge …mmm…On the subject of coffee, good strong Ciro coffee is their choice at The Tinker Bean; they tinker with the coffee bean to produce the finest. With a farmstyle feel to this spacious old Walmer home, Arjenique has created a child-friendly environment offering an indoor playroom and a garden of toys and activites for the little people. For the bigger people, the indoor fireplace is welcome warmth on the chilly winter days. Starting in September, kiddies’ arts and crafts are on offer with Nici at R40 per child per session. (Contact Nici on: o72 364 8954, see photo advert below) They hope to soon introduce cooking classes for children. In a room down the passage a great selection of new and second hand baby accessories are for sale. Also available are select items from “Tinseltown Crafty Gifts and Decor”. Tinseltown is down the driveway and behind Cobblestone Bakery on 6th Avenue, Walmer.
